- View and Chew
To start off a new year of our FREE monthly movie series, we will be showing “Roofman”. This movie stars Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst.
“A charismatic criminal, while on the run from the police, hides in a hidden space of a toy store. There, he adopts a new identity and becomes involved with an employee, beginning a relationship as unlikely as it is risky.”
The movie will be shown on Wednesday, January 17th, with a start time of 6 pm at The Virginia Theater (119 N. Main St.) The theater doors will open at 5:30 pm. Concessions will be available for purchase. We look forward to seeing you there.
- Happy New Reading Year!
The Book Chatters are starting 2026 with a new Reading List and plans for celebrating 25 years of reading and chatting! Stop by the Book Chatter’s display to see a selection of book choices for the year and pick up a copy of the list, or visit the website to view/print your own list. Books read through the past 25 years by the group will now feature a label on the spine of our books. For January, we are reading The Secret Life of Sunflowers by Marta Molnar. Please borrow a copy and join us on Tuesday, January 27, in the Wolfe Community Room at 6:30 pm to discuss.
“When auctioneer Emsley finds her famous grandmother's diary, the pages are full of surprises. The first surprise is, the diary isn't her grandmother's. It belongs to Johanna Bonger, Vincent van Gogh's sister-in-law. Johanna inherited Vincent van Gogh's paintings. They were all she had, and they weren't worth anything. She was a widow with a baby in the 1800s, without any means of supporting herself, living in Paris, where she barely spoke the language. Yet she managed to introduce Vincent's legacy to the world.”
